Occurrence Remarks: Water condition: Low stage. Clear, greenish, disc seen 24" deep. Vegetation: only drifting algae & microscopic forms. Bottom: Sand to sandy silt. Temp: 72F. Shore: High sand banks, willow covered. Current: about 3 mph. Distance from shore: to 100 feet. Depths of capture: to 4 feet. Method of capture 30 x 4 minnow seine. Seining was done around a mid-river sandbar about 3 miles below LaCrosse. Most species were in very shallow water, but Hybognathus nuchalis, Dorosoma, and Lepibema were in four-foot holes in the current.
